Stephon Camp

Attend High School at Butler Traditional High School and is getting a degree at IU Southeast in Theatre Business. In 1998, I started my passion in the arts at the age of four, at the Anita Hill Dancing School. In 2001, I join Louisville Central Community Center; where my interest in theatre and business started to grow. In 2004, I was in the Blue Apple Players a theatre group for young actors and moved on to Stage One Workshops, Also, joined the University Of Louisville Ballet for two years. In summer of 2006, I was in Shakespeare Production Summer Camp, were young actors dive head first into the world of the greatest playwright in history: William Shakespeare. Under the guidance of theatre professionals, participants unravel his plays with text analysis; transform into Shakespeare’s characters through voice, movement and improvisation work; wage battles against mortal enemies with stage combat; and develop fundamental acting skills using classical theatre techniques. To culminate each session, participants stage a performance for friends and family at the Louisville Shakespeare Company. In 2007, Stephon join Walden Theater until 2009, also around this time Stephon  join the West Louisville Boys Choir, singing around the city of Louisville, KY for about 4 months. In the fall of 2008 Stephon began starting his biggest dream to start a business at a young age. Aslo that summer, he worked as a Louisville Central Community Center Summer Camp Youth Worker In 2011, Stephon join the Louisville NAACP Youth and later in the year became vice president, that summer he worked for MSD as an office worker and shadow In 2012, Stephon become the president of the Louisville NAACP Youth, and later that year started working for Churchill Downs as a dish washer for three months. In 2013, Stephon became a member of SHA School of Arts, that summer he started working for Fourth Street LIVE as a production technician for the concerts and events His currently at IU Southeast majoring in Theatre Business. Still working at Fourth Street LIVE as a production technician for the concerts and events. A god fearing young man who has come a long way of having reading difficulty and never knew how he was going to achieve his goals. With prayers each and every day he built that self- confidence to not let anything or anybody get in my way. That he believes he was born with a natural god gifted talent that can accomplish what he set his mind to do. he has many goals that he plans to achieve; he is a hard worker, self-starter, and a leader to others. Stephon said that “Being a part of a theatre and business atmosphere beginning at a young age this became my passion for my future. My interest in theatre and business has progressed since middle school. I have volunteer with several different organizations. Which includes musical theatres, technical theatres, offices and business related clubs (Stage One, MSD, Sound Ministry, Drama Ministry, CFD Ministry, FCA, FBLA, NAACP, LCCC Teen Leadership Council, Sacred Heart Academy School Of Arts, Fourth Street LIVE and LCCC). As I pursue my passion I will continue researching, interning at various theaters and studying to further my education and knowledge of how to become a successful and productive theatrical business man. In college I plan to successfully graduate with a degree in Theatre and Business relations. I pray to someday to start my own theatre business and giving back to the community, by creating a safe environment, keeping children out of trouble with the arts and teaching them how to better the community. The college I will be attend in the fall of 2014 will be Indiana University Southeast that’s one of eight Indiana University campuses, that gives you all the excitement of a Big Ten university, a highly respected degree, and world-class resources. Plus I’ll get personal attention I might need to succeed. I’ll know my professors- and they'll know me. Their focus at IU Southeast is to help me do more than complete a degree. They’ll help me surpass my own expectations and reach my true potential and surprise myself.
